Who Should Take This Course?

In order to operate a motorboat of ten (10) horsepower or greater, Florida law requires anyone who was born on or after Jan. 1, 1988 to successfully complete an approved boating safety course and obtain a Boating Safety Education Identification Card issued by the FWC. This course is for Florida residents and visitors who do not already possess a valid boating education certificate but who wish to rent a boat or PWC to operate on Florida waters. You can be any age to take this course, however, you must be 18 years of age or older to rent a boat or PWC.
